If you’ve seen the movie Shawshank Redemption, there’s a scene where Red (Morgan Freeman) is out in the yard at Shawshank and his best friend Andy (Tim Robbins) turns to him and asks, “I understand you’re a man who knows how to get things.” Well, Andy wanted a rock hammer, and Red was the man who knew how to get it. It was that rock hammer that eventually leads to Andy’s escape and their reunion on the sunny beaches in Mexico.

In our busy lives, we all need a “Man who knows how to get things.”
If you’re in need of creative merchandise, Russ Roberts is that man.

Russ’s story as a man who “gets creative things” began in 1991 when a couple of guys named Kix and Ronnie needed a Merchandise Guy for their first tour. Russ got on the bus ride of a lifetime and Kix and Ronnie became country music superstars, Brooks & Dunn.

As Brooks & Dunn began to shoot up the charts and sell out arenas, they asked Russ to get off the bus and into an office to keep up with the demand of merchandise that they now needed. As you can imagine, as Brooks and Dunn’s first album went from Gold to Five Times Platinum, that meant truckloads full of all that stuff you see at the back of the show: t-shirts, hats, jackets, buttons, stickers, key chains, license plates, and much more.

With Nashville’s small town feel, it didn’t take long for others in the music business to make Russ their “man who can get creative things.” In March of 1993 Russ and KW Engelhart opened the doors to “Get It Guru.” The name said it all, "anything you want we can get it". “Are you the guys who did those cool Lava Lamps for Capitol Records?” From Toby Keith to Capitol Records, if you need it, Get It Guru can find it.

The next thing you know Get It Guru was “getting creative things” for everyone from Hospitals to Construction Companies.

In 2004, Dean Toscano became Russ’s business partner. Dean brought much wisdom to the table from the uniform industry where he had worked prior to coming on board.

If you find yourself in need of the perfect item to express your business and find yourself thinking, “That’s crazy, where am I going to find 1000 thing-a-magigs.” It’s just a phone call away, all you need is a man who knows how to get things.
